Goldenwest oil leak

Just in time for the holiday weekend, an oil leak in Huntington Beach on Goldenwest St. between Ellis and Garfield Avenues, has forced officials to close off southbound lanes on the busy thoroughfare.

According to reports, the leak is actually a seepage from an underground oil pipeline. Officials estimated that approximately 820 gallons of oil had leaked onto the roadway, before the pipeline was shut off. The result, they say, is a dangerous and unstable roadway, that must be cleaned immediately.

Fortunately, the clean up crew was able to stop the oil from getting into storm drains. Unfortunately, one of the city's main roads will be closed on one of the busiest weekends of the year. For those planning a trip to the pier this weekend, and usually take Goldenwest to Main St., I recommend taking Beach instead.
