This Saturday is the Irvine Lake Mud Run at Oak Canyon Park, to benefit the Gavin R. Stevens Foundation. The Foundation was created to raise awareness and money to research a cure for a rare disease that causes blindness, called Leber's Congenital Amarosis. The fundraising goal of this year's mud run in $25,000.
In addition to raising money for charity, mud runners will traverse a 5K course that includes hills, obstacle courses and more than two-dozen mud pits. According to EasyOC's weekly news blog, the highlight of the mud run is actually the "massive beer garden." There will also be an action sports and eco fair, as well as live music.
