Today is day eight of the 2011 US Open of Surfing. If you haven't been to downtown Huntington Beach and the south side of the pier, I suggest you make your way down there before the surf, sun and action sports fun ends on Sunday.

This morning, ASP World Champion Carrissa Moore faced off against rookie darling, Courtney Conlogne, in the second heat of the Women's Quarterfinals. While Conlogne started out strong, Moore ended the heat stronger and took first place, and will face off against wildcard Lakey Peterson in the semifinals.

Unfortunately, two-time champ Brett Simpson was knocked out of the competition on August 3rd, much to the dismay of the hometown crowd.

Catch the men's and women's finals starting tomorrow morning and see who takes home the 2011 West Coast Championship.
