Holiday season is upon us and there is a glut of activities throughout the O.C. One of my favorite holiday activities has always been to drive down a "Christmas Lane" neighborhood to see the amazingly decorated homes. In the O.C. beach and harbor cities, boat parades and cruises are the order of the season.
Holiday boat cruises start Dec 3 in Dana Point, where you can cruise the harbor with Santa. Dec 16-23, cruise the Huntington Harbor to view the light displays, ranging from colorful and outrageous, to simple and understated.
The most popular aquatic holiday happening is in Newport Harbor Dec 14-18. The harbor will be illuminated with a parade of boats and a "ring of lights" from the surrounding buildings. The parade can be viewed from anywhere in the harbor or from one of the waterfront restaurants. Boat charters are also available for those who want to see the parade from the center of the action.
