The end of the year is quickly approaching. Instead of wondering where the time went, why not just celebrate the new beginning? If you’re in the O.C., you don’t have to travel far to ring in the New Year. Here’s a guide to New Year’s Eve parties and celebrations in Orange County.
Returning for a second year, the New Year's Eve Block Party at the
O.C. Fairgounds in Costa Mesa promises food trucks, drinks, gambling, tribute bands on four stages, and carnival rides. There is no age requirement for this event; however, there are no activities scheduled for kids. Tickets are available for $35 through Nov 30, after which the price goes up to $45. Special
discount combo ticket is also available and includes admission to the Block Party and a Super Pass to the 2012
O.C. Fair. General parking is $10 and VIP parking is available for $20.
Formerly held at the L.A. Sports Arena, this 18-and-over New Year's Eve concert event was moved to the
Oak Canyon Park Live DJ sets and other performances from artists including
Diplo,
Felix Da Housecat and
Duck Sauce -- among others -- will be hosted on two stages. General admission tickets are available for $75; VIP admission is $125.
This New Year's Eve tradition that
originated in Boston as a national bicentennial celebration and a performing arts focused, alcohol-free alternative for ringing in the New Year. These "First Night" celebrations have been
adopted by cities throughout the country. Fullerton is the first and only city hosting a "First Night" festival in Orange County, featuring live music and entertainment, rides for the kids, art exhibits, ice skating and more. General admission is free; however a $2-$7 fee will apply to kids rides and select activities.
How do you ring in the New Year in the O.C. if you're in the affluent beach city of
Newport Beach? You have a yacht party, that's how. This 21-and-over New Year's Eve Yacht party cruise through Newport Harbor features live entertainment, an open bar, and a catered meal. Boarding begins at 8:30 p.m. and the yacht returns to the dock at 1:00 p.m.
Table reservations start at $100 and VIP seating is available for $300. This event has sold out eight years in a row, so book your reservations early.
The Lemondrop Club hosts this New Year's bash at the Embassy Suites in
