With Summer upon us, it's time to head outside for fun in the sun. Here are some outdoor events happening around Orange County for the month of June.
Whale Watching in Newport Beach
When: June 2 - 30
Where: Newport Landing, Newport Beach
Take advantage of the summer discount on California Whale Watching in Newport Beach during the month of June. This is a great opportunity to see blue whales up to 80 ft long, huge pods of dolphins, killer whales, seals and other marine animals in their natural habitat. Adult tickets are $20 with coupon.
Classic Car and Motorcycle Show
When: June 4-5
Where: Huntington Beach Central Park
This two day event for car enthusiasts is a benefit for the Children’s Resource Center, which provides services for the Huntington Beach Library. One day tickets are available for $10, two day tickets are $15. Take the event flyer with you and get $2 off at the gate.
KROQ Weenie Roast
When: June 4
Where: Verizon Amphitheater
Rock out with artists such as Linkin Park, Cage the Elephant, Rise Agains, Lykki Li and more, at the 2011 KROQ Weenie Roast. Tickets prices start at $45 and go up to $75.
OC Roller Girls vs. Reno Roller Girls
When: June 4
Where: Aneheim Convention Center
The OC Roller Girls Banked Track team squares off against the Reno Roller Girls. Since launching in 2006, OCRGs has been ranked among the top five roller derby clubs and the The Banked Track team is looking to continue this success. Tickets start at $23.50 and go up to $32.50.
Tustin Chili Cookoff
When: June 5
Where: Old Town Tustin
50 teams compete in this annual International Chili Society Competition to win prizes in two categories: best restaurant chili and People’s Choice. Admission is free, but chili tickets are $1 each and alcohol wristbands can be purchased for $2.
Warren Russel Cup at the Coast Mesa Speedway
When: June 11
Where: Orange Count Fairgrounds
This youth motorcycle racing event is sure to satisfy the action sports fans. Adult admission is $15, seniors and teens between 13-17 get in for $10, kids 3-12 get in for $5.
Sunsets at the Zoo Summer Concert Series
When: June 12 & 26, July 17
Where: Santa Ana Zoo
Bring a blanket and pack a picnic dinner for this concert series at the Santa Ana Zoo, featuring live music, carousel and train rides and art, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each night. Admission is free for kids under three, $10 for anyone over three and half price for zoo members.
The Big Irish Fair
When: June 18-19
Where: Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
This annual event is the largest of its kind in Western America. There are numerous events and attractions including an Irish Bagpipe Parade, music and entertainment, an Irish Dog Show and so much more. Children under 13 get in free. Single day adult tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the gate. Seniors and students can get single day tickets for $12 in advance and $15 at the gate.
Father’s Day Dinner Cruise
When: June 18
Where: Dana Wharf, Dana Point
Take dad on this two-hour cruise on the Dana Pride, for an evening on the water with live music and a bar-b-que dinner. Adult tickets are $59, $29 for kids 3-12, and kids ages three and under are admitted for free.
Art-A-Fair
When: Starting June 24
Where: Laguna Beach
This summer arts festival in Laguna Beach, the Orange County city known for its arts community, features more than 120 local and international artists. There will also be live music and artist workshops. Laguna Beach residents get in free with valid identification. Regular admission is $7, and grants access to the festival for the duration of the exhibition.
